Teas in Japan

Hello my dearies 🙂

I love going into Daiso, as I know and expect all the prices to be the same at $2.80. 🙂

Daiso has an exquisite range of hot and cold beverages on offer. It’s so hard to choose what stands out the most and which to try first.

I decided to go for their cold fridge section, since its summer here in Australia and the humidity is like wild cards not sure how humid it’s going to get?

In Daiso’s fridge section, there is a choice of purchasing 2 drinks at a cost of $2.80 that is the option of grabbing selected 340ml serving size and/or smaller. Otherwise you can purchase larger bottled drinks for $2.80 each.

I ended up grabbing a can of green tea and can of oolong tea, both serving size of 340ml.

Some but not all of Daiso products are made in Japan. I only made this discovery until recently, so keep your eyes peeled and make sure to read the label. Thankfully, I was sure to be purchasing two cold beverages that were made in Japan.

The green tea serving of 340ml had zero sugar and ingredients included were water, green tea and vitamin C. I’ve been fortunate to have tasted an array of Japanese green tea, even the ones with zero sugar. So, I immediately knew before purchasing that I was expecting quite a bitter taste of Japanese green tea.

This green tea was not overpowered with bitterness, or watered down. It had the perfect unfermented flavour of a green tea with zero sugar content, the way it should be. The enjoyment of drinking a green tea with zero sugar content allows me to get a healthy taste of real brewed tea.

It may not be exactly the same, as premium green tea leaves. It does, however soothe my tired mind and body especially recovering from the heat wave we’ve been having here in Sydney. Making it even more excellent is enjoying the taste directly served cold from the fridge.

The oolong tea serving of 340ml also had zero sugar content and ingredients included were water, oolong tea and vitamin C. I’ve tasted oolong tea before, but it was a hit for me the first and second time I tried it. Though, I have never tried oolong tea without sugar before so this was a first. As with previous occasions I had tried oolong tea with sugar and wasn’t a fan of it at all.

I was honestly caught off guard by the taste, as the immediate flavour hit was perfect. It had a delightful bitter taste however as a green tea, I could taste the oolong teas are partially fermented because of the processing of black tea. The oolong tea may have tasted like the green tea, but there is a difference between the two. Oolong tea is known to be fermented, whereas green tea unfermented.

Oolong Tea

Oolong Tea

Oolong tea like a cup of coffee helps sharpen thinking skills and improve mental alertness.

I personally believe the black tea used in the oolong tea is not as strong, as compared to having a double espresso shot. It has the perfect strength to keep you calm, collected and still maintain the analytical and mental alertness you need to get you through the day if you’re not in a coffee mood or coffee drinker in general.
