Free Lipton Tea Sampling!

Hi folks!

When I was a youngster, I grew up drinking plenty of full-cream milk, water, teas and fruit drinks. However my fondest memory would have to be drinking Lipton teas. Just remembering the taste and the aroma being gratifying. As I am much older now, I haven’t drank Lipton teas for a few years now until recently that I have discovered their latest collection of tea varieties called the, Discovery Collection.

I have recently tasted one of the flavours of this particular collection, the Russian Earl Grey which I wasn’t a big fan of. As I did mention in an earlier entry, it hasn’t discouraged me from trying their latest flavours of tea.

I’m actually excited to have read up the other day on the Lipton website that they will be a sampling of their latest flavours from the Discovery Collection. I will be checking out their locations across Sydney. I’m quite unsure of the locations in the sampling that will be held in across the state and territories.

Feel free to check out their website for your nearest location, in your state or territory.

Lipton Discovery Collection

Just because it smells like an Earl Grey doesn’t mean it’ll taste like an Earl Grey. My sense of smell here deceived me.

The Lipton Russian Earl Grey has a zesty flavour, instead of the flavour of a black tea. Lipton has achieved the taste of lemon peel and orange with floral notes of sky-blue cornflower petals. However it has disappointed me with its promises made on the package; ‘experience the magical bouquet of black leaves.’

I personally didn’t like the taste of this flavour. I did, however enjoy the spacious pyramid bag that revealed an exquisite wealth of fragrances found in the aroma of bergamot and citrus.

I added 1 teaspoon of raw sugar and left the tea bag in to settle for about 2 to 4 minutes, however depending on how strong you’d like your tea, you can leave it in for longer. I make this as a simple suggestion, as this is my style for making tea.
My overall rating out of 5, I’d give it a 1 out of 5.
I won’t be interested in tasting this flavour, but it hasn’t discouraged me in taking on the challenge of trying Lipton’s, Discovery Collection.

Mate, you need to try a green matcha tea!

I am a big fan of Starbucks teas and coffees; this place brings me back every time.

As much I like the company for being well-known for their coffees, I don’t like to have it too often. It’s only a now and then preference for me whenever I have a chance to stumble across a Starbucks, I may grab a short chai latte or any of their green tea range.

I don’t think, I have mentioned this before but I am a big fan of mochas, lattes and green tea. I absolutely love the taste, texture and aroma I get out of drinking them. It gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling and a great pick me up. I use to be a constant chai latte drinker, but then thought to me myself there are other choices. Ever since then, I never looked back and a great choice I made indeed. 🙂

From Starbucks, I ordered a short green (matcha) tea latte with full-cream milk. At the time, I didn’t really think that full-cream milk would make a difference in taste as I usually have full-cream milk as my first preference. In the past, I have usually drunk matcha green tea without milk and often drink my teas the unconventional mention without milk.

What is matcha exactly? Matcha is a fine powder of green tea. Matcha tea is known to be an acquired taste by some, as it is quite bitter. If you remember, you’re first experience of eating dark chocolate then this is a good comparison.

The green matcha had the right taste of bitterness flavour and texture of a tea latte. The full-cream milk tasted well after a few sips and was enjoying the flavoured bitterness of the green tea. Green matcha, especially Japanese green matcha from personal experience are known to be quite bitter so if you’re not a fan of bitter flavoured teas, then I suggest give this a miss. However, after drinking halfway through the tea I did notice the full-cream milk did create an impact of not enjoying the remainder of the beverage.

My overall rating out of 5, I’d give it 3.5 out of 5.

I will be trying this flavour again; except for next time I won’t choose full-cream milk I’ll have it with soy milk or skim milk.
